Bicycle Business Insurance

Thursday, January 11, 2007

Over the course of the past few years, I've learned that there are a number of gray areas that dealers face in their day to day business in the bike industry. The purpose of this blog is to elicit discussion based on those issues, in hopes of bringing greater clarity to some of these issues. Some can be dealt with by insuring, some contractually, and some may need to be minimized and avoided altogether. I hope you find this to be a useful tool in creating a safe, well protected bike shop. With attention to some small details, you can improve your current risk profile, all while reducing your long term cost of risk. A few of the more recent topics of concern:

- Rentals
- Bikes Held for Service
- Peak Season Increases in Inventory
- Shop Rides
- Test Rides
- Events & Charity Functions
- Record Keeping & OSHA Requirements

These are a few of the (exciting?) topics we'll cover. Stay tuned, and in the meantime, let me know if there are topics you'd like me to cover out of the gate.

Thanks for reading!
